Le 12 mars 1922, le conseil municipal vote la décision d'ériger un monument aux morts en souvenir des 14 enfants de la commune morts pendant la Grande Guerre. Il est taillé dans de la roche de Juvigny dans la Meuse et a la forme d' un obélisque surmonté d’un coq gaulois debout. Au pied du monument, un casque de poilus posé sur des lauriers. 
Note : Sur le socle du monument est écrit Grenut à Nevers.
